Terms & Conditions
Last updated:
These terms apply when you use monsterconvert.com and its tools (the "Service"), which are run by MonsterConvert ("we", "us"). By using the Service you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use it.
What the Service is
MonsterConvert offers tools in the browser for converting, compressing and editing images, and for merging, splitting and compressing PDF files, along with guides about image formats. The tools run on your own device. How information is handled is described in our Privacy Policy.
Who can use it
You must be old enough to enter a binding agreement where you live, or have a parent or guardian's permission. If you use the Service for an organisation, you confirm that you can agree to these terms on its behalf.
Your files
You keep all rights in the files you work on. We never receive them, so we claim no licence over them and we cannot use them for anything.
You confirm that you have the right to process the files you add, and you are responsible for what you do with the results. Do not process material that you have no right to use, or that is unlawful.
We have no copy of your files, so we cannot recover one if something goes wrong. Keep your originals, and download a result before you close or reload the page.
Acceptable use
When using the Service, you agree not to:
- use it to break the law or to infringe someone else's rights;
- interfere with the site or its security, or send automated traffic that slows it down for others;
- copy, mirror or resell the Service, its design or its content as your own;
- use it to distribute malware or to attack other systems.
Parts of the Service rely on open-source software. Those parts stay under their own licences, and nothing in these terms limits your rights under them.
Results and accuracy
The tools do what they describe, but the output is not guaranteed to suit your purpose. In particular:
- Compressing an image or a PDF is lossy. Pixels change and the original detail cannot be brought back, so keep your original.
- A target size is a best effort. When a file cannot reach it, the tool says so and shows the closest result it could produce.
- Flattening a PDF turns its pages into pictures. The text can no longer be selected, searched or copied, and links stop working.
- Compressing or otherwise rewriting a PDF invalidates any digital signature in it, and can break archival (PDF/A) conformance.
- Converting between formats can drop features the new format does not support, such as transparency, animation or colour profiles.
Check every result before you rely on it. Websites that ask you to upload a photo or document set their own rules for size, format and dimensions. We cannot promise that a result will be accepted by them.
Your device and browser
Because the work happens on your device, speed and limits depend on your browser, your memory and the size of your files. Very large files may fail or be refused, and older browsers may not run every tool.
Availability and changes
We may change, limit, suspend or remove any part of the Service at any time. We do not promise that it will always be available or free of errors, and we do not offer support as part of it.
Price
The Service is currently available without charge. We may introduce paid features, usage limits, advertising or affiliate links in the future. If we do, we will update these terms and the Privacy Policy, and the change will apply from then on.
Intellectual property
The site's text, design, name and logo belong to us or our licensors. You may link to any page. You may not use our name or logo in a way that suggests we endorse you or your product. The results you produce from your own files are yours.
Third-party services and links
The Service uses third-party services described in the Privacy Policy, and may link to or fetch content from other websites, for example when you use the "From URL" option. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for them. Their own terms apply.
No warranty
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we give no warranties of any kind, including that it is fit for a particular purpose, uninterrupted, free of errors or that your files will come out unchanged. Some places do not allow certain warranties to be excluded, so part of this section may not apply to you.
Limit of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, or for lost files, data, profits or opportunities, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim, which at the moment is nothing.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
Blocking and stopping
We may block access for traffic that breaks these terms or harms the Service, without notice. You can stop using the Service at any time.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. If you keep using the Service after a change, you accept the updated terms.
General
These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service. If a part of them turns out to be unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. If we do not enforce a part right away, we have not given up the right to do so later.
