Converting SVG to GIF
GIF is limited to 256 colors, so gradients and shadows look banded. It only makes sense when a system specifically requires GIF. This converts to a single still frame; SVG animation is not carried over.

An SVG is a drawing, not a grid of pixels, so it has no single "correct" resolution. 1x uses the size the SVG was authored at (from its width and height, or its viewBox). Pick 2x, 3x or 4x for sharper results on high-DPI screens or in print, or type an exact width and the height follows the original proportions.
Yes. With the background set to Transparent, empty areas of the SVG stay transparent in the GIF. Choose White or a custom color if you'd rather have a solid background.
No. The SVG is drawn once and saved as a single still image. Animations inside the SVG are not converted into GIF frames.
Text is the usual cause. If an SVG uses a font that isn't installed on your device, the browser substitutes another one, and fonts or images the SVG loads from other websites can't be fetched at all when it's drawn as an image. Converting the text to outlines in your design tool before exporting the SVG makes it render the same everywhere.
